Gateway vs Mail Box

When you get a new account with INCA Internet, you may opt for either a "mail gateway" or one or more "mail boxes". The differences between the two account types are given below.

The e-mail gateway

An e-mail gateway is a special type of account that will accept any and all e-mail addressed to your domain. All the mail could then be collected using a single account in your e-mail package rather than having to set up an e-mail profile for every recipient.

The mail box

A mail box will only accept mail for a single pre-defined addressee eg SALES or INFO. Any e-mails not addressed to one of the predefined mail boxes would get returned to the recipient as undeliverable. Obviously, as each mail box is an individual account, each one will need setting up as a profile in your e-mail package.

So which one?

If you don't want to have to manage multiple mail accounts or you have your own POP3 mail server you should opt for the mail gateway. If, how ever, you have have more than one PC in your organisation each with it's own internet connection, you should opt for the mail box. This way each PC can collect it's own mail.
